The information on this website and in the book Tummy Time to Walking is an excellent resource for understanding how to work with your child to improve their movement. However, if your child isn’t improving as quickly as you think they should, talk with your child’s pediatrician. In the US, all fifty states have early intervention programs. The earlier a child gets the help they need, the more improvement they are likely to make—don’t delay. Their pediatrician will be able to refer your child to your local early intervention agency.

You should also tell the pediatrician if your child has asymmetries, such as using one hand or leg more than the other or preferring to lay their head in one direction. These could be signs of a medical condition.

One of the big limitations of reading is that the conversation is one-sided; no patient professional relationship can be formed. The information presented is not intended to be a substitute for physical therapy or medical advice. Readers should not disregard, or delay in obtaining, medical advice for any medical condition their child may have.

This book and website are intended for general information purposes only. Implementing the information is at the user’s own risk. If your child is working with a physical therapist, follow their advice. This information will help you ask the right questions of the therapist. You will get better results from the therapist if you are more informed. If there seems to be a discrepancy between this information and your child’s therapist, first ask more questions, then follow their advice.

The stories in this book and website are based on the author’s professional experiences. In order to protect privacy and give better examples for the reader to learn from, the stories are not necessarily based on any one person. Examples are often based on multiple different experiences, presented as one cohesive story.
